SELF ASSESSMENT
The P.A.R.T. and S.E.L.F. framework provides a simple way to organize the time balance you need to achieve as a parent in order to bring out the best in your child and you. Consisting of eight quadrants, the framework serves as a practical rudder to be mindful about where your time is going and be purposeful about how you use it.
This Time to Parent self-assessment helps parents identify which of the eight quadrants they tend to gravitate toward, and which they tend to neglect, in order to make mindful adjustments in order to feel more balanced, whole and fulfilled.
Taken from chapter 5 of Time to Parent, this assessment will help you recognize your current strengths and determine where you need to build skills or pay more attention. The results will guide you toward which specific chapters in Time to Parent to read for practical tips and tricks to make or contain time in the areas that need reinforcement.
So, let’s figure out where you stand right now. Retake the self-assessment every time you feel off balance—your answers may change based on the age of your kids, or what’s happening with work, your relationships, your health, and the rest of your life
INSTRUCTIONS: For each of the eight quadrants:
- Indicate whether you feel you are spending Too Much, Not Enough, or Just Right amount of time.
- Rank each of the five self statements that follow on a scale of 1 to 5.
